Observations, musings and rubbish from the mind of an IVO (International Voice Over)

Whatever happened to the first half of 2020?

So here we are, halfway through the first year of the 21st Century’s third decade and heading towards Christmas – and yet it feels to me like the year might as well be over. Even with the UK relaxing the lockdown restrictions somewhat, along with hundreds of thousands of others, it still feels like being in a strange/weird open detention centre… One in which you’re allowed to exercise and purchase... Mektoub – the adventure begins…

And so it’s halfway through the year 2020 – already! Welcome to the UK summer – the one during which we’re not really supposed to be going anywhere. And so, I’ve been occupying myself with something most wonderful, heartwarming and just plain nice in a time when things are, shall we say, less than positive! You may have already discovered and/or watched the prologue to “The Call of Mektoub” on... View Article

Consciousness abounding…

So this blog is a kind of almost stream of consciousness – or at least partly – but it’s also to do with something that I read recently, probably on social media – not preaching – just paraphrasing something that I read which, to me, personally anyway, helps put things into perspective during these very strange days indeed. So all credit to whoever it was, that posted this wherever it... View Article

The show must go on…

Hello to whomsoever is reading or listening to this blog, written during week three of COVID-19 slash “Lockdown” UK! Aaaaaand that’s about all I’m going to say regarding the actual virus itself which, at least for an undetermined number of weeks, changed the world in the first year of the third decade of the twenty-first century. Actually, that’s a pretty big deal when you come to think of it, huh?... View Article

Wow – just wow…

In months, maybe years to come, if you’re discovering this little blog and wondering what COVID-19 means, just Google it – because “the media” will have left such a large footprint across the internet, there’ll be no problem whatsoever in finding out what happened to the planet and the humans upon it in the early part of the year 2020. Personal opinion disclaimer: I don’t watch TV (especially news or... View Article

Sir Bedivere…

Once in a while, I get to voice something which isn’t a script explaining how something works,  why you need a certain product or service, how best to operate a piece of machinery, what to learn or how to do something and so forth. This “once in a while” happened recently when I stood in front of the microphone for a couple of hours exalting various groans, grunts and battle... View Article

Always look on the bright side?

Terry Jones, one of my many comedy heroes, passed away in January. Kirk Douglas, one of my Dad’s heroes, went early February. These are but two of the hundreds of what Wikipedia terms “notable individuals” who shuffled off this mortal coil over the first 6 weeks of 2020. Terry and Kirk are just a couple of names on a list which, over only a few days, includes journalists, a cartoonist,... View Article
